HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU - Part Three

Today would have been my dad's 81st birthday. This isn't a real clear picture, but he's holding a plate with his birthday cake on it. He just looks so sweet, there! I love his little bow tie! On the back of the picture it says that it was his 3rd birthday. I'm sure my grandmother made the cake. His mother was a terrific cook; she could make a gourmet meal out of practically nothing. My dad grew up during the Great Depression, but his parents did a wonderful job of making his and his brothers' childhoods happy ones. It was tough, losing my dad a few years ago to cancer. He was one of the smartest people I've ever known, and whenever I had a question or needed advice, he was the one I always called first. I miss his smile and his laugh the most, and I miss how he always, always told me he loved me, whether I was on the phone long distance, or visiting with him in person. Happy Birthday, Dad. I hope you're celebrating with a huge party in Heaven today. I love and miss you so very much!

A chapter in our life really does close when we lose a parent.
How nice of you to remember him this way -- that is the most adorable picture!

What a wonderful tribute. I lost my dad in 2006. I was a fix it guy and loved to tinker.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Did you get the rain up there?. I live in the Eastbay and we did some here.
Ciao

Jann, I love your Dad's picture. He looks so happy and sweet.

My dad also would've been 81 this year, but he passed away too early in 1980. I often think of wanting to ask him for advice in raising my kids.

We have to share the love that we are given-It is a gift. There are many who do not have this most wonderful gift. Not a day goes by that I don't think of my dad. It was very tough on me, so many years ago. That's why we are given these gifts.

You are so lucky to have been so blessed-Lydia
