An Interesting Sky

I took these photos last night while the sun was setting. Those are not UFOs in the first picture (ha, that's what I was thinking when I saw the photo)--they are the lights in my kitchen--I had grabbed the camera when I saw that unusual cloud formation, and just snapped the first picture through my sliding glass door, never thinking to turn off the lights! It kind of looks like a sci-fi type of scene in that first picture, don't you think? I went outdoors to take the second photo. Anyway, it was a very interesting sky we had out there for a few seconds! Have a great weekend, everyone!

A Little Love Bug Named Lily

Isn't she a cutie? My son Joe took these with his IPhone camera. Some of you commented on one of my earlier posts that he looks very young--he does look young for his age, but he will be 26 in a few short months. Ah, if only I looked younger than my real age--used to, but don't any more!!!!!!

Art Creations Friday Challenge

Finally got this little card done--so much always going on at home, but I do like to finish something I've started, even if it's a little late--loved this image provided by Art Creations Friday last week!

GOTHIC ARCHES - "Shabby Chic"

Here's my arch for this week's Gothic Arches challenge! The beautiful rose image is from Karen over at The Graphics Fairy--I tweaked the colors a little to fit this theme, but the original colors are even more beautiful, I think! You can find the original image here.

A New Grandchild to Love

Layla Madison arrived on January 7th, in Boise, Idaho, and weighed in at 6 pounds, 14 ozs. She was almost 2 weeks early, and had some fluid in her lungs, so she spent some time in ICU, and, thankfully, is just fine now. I haven't seen her in person yet, but will very soon! Meanwhile, here are a few pictures of her with her daddy, my son Joe, and also with her big sister, Lily. I will try and get a photo of her with my daughter-in-law soon--aren't the girls just so sweet?

TMTA-Newspaper

The challenge this week at TMTA is to make an ATC using the theme of "newspaper" any way you choose. My background was taken from scrapbook paper that showed images of headlines from an old newspaper from the 1920s.

Art Creations Friday Challenge

I'm so behind on everything "artsie" but I do have good excuses--there's just always so much going on with our large family! I do want to state for the record, though, that I am never late for appointments or for work--just posting on my blog and art! Here's what I did with the given image this past week for Art Creations Friday:
I covered a papier maché frame with some old scrapbook paper I've had forever, and then changed the hue on the image using my photo program on my computer. I printed that out, glued it to a thin piece of cardboard, and then colored the picture with chalks. The word "pretty" is from a page out of that antique book I have (that's falling apart)--I then added glitter with Stickles, and while it was drying, embellished the frame with paper flowers, (the button in the middle of the large flower was an ivory-colored antique button I dyed with alcohol inks), and a flourish stamp and glitter. Then I slipped the picture into the frame, and it was finished! I'm including the original image so you can see the difference--this was so much fun! (You can get a much better look at the little details if you click on the photos!)

"Paris" for Theme Thursday

Yes, I know it's Sunday, but I'm always a few days behind . . . this is a 3x4 piece of chipboard, which I covered with a page from an 1890s-era French novel, stamped with French stamps, and decorated--it started out as a different idea for this theme, but ended up being what it is now. Not exactly what I had originally envisioned (I wanted to put it in a little frame) but it's acceptable, I guess. You can see all the beautiful artwork for the Theme Thursday challenge of "Paris"here.
