GOTHIC ARCHES

This week's Gothic Arches challenge was a little different than normal; instead of being presented with an idea, or word theme, we were given this beautiful image of 2 little girls. The challenge was to create an arch, using the image. You can see all the beautiful "Gothic Arches"here!

HAPPY MONDAY, HAPPY SPRING!

I am now enjoying our beautiful Spring weather, here in Northern California! Last week I was miserable with seasonal allergies and a resultant sinus infection, but thank goodness for antibiotics! Feeling lots better and am able to enjoy the warm weather--this little male housefinch is enjoying the weather, stopping for a rest in my backyard. Hoping to get busy and make some art this week . . . Happy Monday, everyone!

Spring Tag

I thought I'd try and make a tag for the Tag Tuesday challenge--the theme this week is "Spring"-- which is my favorite season! My background paper and images were printed on my computer from a Borders and Frames CD I have, and the rest is a little stamping, butterfly images printed from my computer, a rose sticker, and embellishing! Much thanks to Louise of Kard Krazy for hosting this fun challenge every week!

GOTHIC ARCHES - "Wild and Wacky"

Here's my arch for this week's theme over at Gothic Arches--I'm not really a "wild and wacky" kind of gal, but I was thinking about the challenge, and an image of a woman with a bird's nest hat came into my mind, so I decided to try giving my lady not only the hat, but jewelry made of butterflies, as well. Fun theme--it really challenged me, that's for sure!

A Beautiful Start to a Beautiful Day

I wanted to share these photos with you; right after my DH left for work yesterday morning, he called me and told me to go look towards the east. He said that there was a beautiful cloud bank that looked like a big ocean wave coming! I took a few photos from the window--it was a very pretty sunrise, and a gorgeous day yesterday! clicking on the photos will give you a better look. Today it is sunny and cool, so far--oh, it is so nice to see the sun out!

GOTHIC ARCHES - "Bathing Beauties"

Here's my arch for the week-sorry my photo isn't the greatest. The lighting in my house is not good, especially at night. We have those energy-saving bulbs everywhere! I love the image I used, and it was a freebie, but I can't remember where I got it right now--too tired! You can see all the wonderful arches at Gothic Arches!

OH NO!!!

I just finished my entry for the Mind Wide Open monthly contest, thinking I had until today to submit it--well, silly me, the deadline was last night, and the entries are going to be posted on that blog today! I read the date wrong! Oh, well, I finished this today while fighting seasonal allergies and the crummy migraine I woke up with, so I will post photos of my little project here. I started out with an unfinished oval frame that I bought at Michael's for $1. I sanded it, stained it, inked it, and embellished it! I used scrapbook paper from K&Co to cover the front, stamped flourishes with Colorbox Chalk Ink, and brushed it with Pearl Ex Powder. Then I added antique buttons, Prima "Center Kisses" and a Prima Embellishments flower. The image inside the frame is from Nancy Dooren, and I attached that to the Mind Wide Open challenge's background and glittered the image and added the suggested word, "Spring" that I clipped from an antique children's book. I also attached Mrs. Grossman's lace stickers around the edges, and put the background and image inside the frame. So, this month, I will look at all the pretty art that people have created, vote on my favorite, and try again next month! PS-the second photo is of my little frame sitting on my grandmother's dresser in my guest room. The dresser was in bad condition many years ago; my sister gave it to me after it sat in her garage for a long time, and my hubby sanded it for me so that I could paint it. I love that dresser and think of my sweet Grandma every time I go into that room!
