Weekly Challenges: TMTA & Daily Art Stop

Oh, once again I am soooo behind! I've been taking care of various grandbabies this week and, although I am crazy about those kiddos, I haven't had much time for me, or for art this week. I am playing "catch up" today, trying to get too many things done at once! So here's what I have to offer for TMTA's weekly theme of using the letter "E" in your artwork. I put lots of glitter on my ATC, but it doesn't show it all. The little bird ATC is one that I'm using for Daily Art Stop's Wednesday theme of "birds"- I made this for an ATC art swap last year. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Sunday Funnies - Women in Film

See how many of these famous actresses of yesteryear you can identify! This is a really neat little video; I found it quite awhile ago and had forgotten about it. I really enjoyed watching it again. I've always been a black and white film nut, and since the wind is whipping around like crazy this morning, bringing lot of rain with it, I might just hunker down and watch an old film. Happy Sunday, everyone, and have fun watching the Oscars tonight--if you're like me, you'll want to see what all the beautiful women (and men) are wearing on the red carpet this year!!!!!

TMTA Weekly Challenge - "Rooftops of Our World"

I just finished this late last night for the TMTA challenge--late in the week, I know, but with guests, 2 birthdays and babysitting grandchildren (which is sooooo much fun, by the way!), there wasn't much time this week for art. This was a tough challenge--I thought of my trip to San Francisco this time last year, and remembered that I'd taken some photos of the city from the top of Coit Tower. When I looked through my pictures, I found this photo of the spires of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the surrounding rooftops. The city of San Francisco holds a very special place in my heart. I first altered the photo in Photoshop to make it look like a drawing, and then made my little ATC--certainly not one of my best, but we all have those moments, don't we, when we aren't happy with our finished product . . . the original photo appears below my ATC.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

This is a vintage Valentine I bought at a little antique shop last year . . . I love the little children on it--reminds me of a long ago, sweet, simple era.

OWOH-Countdown!

Photo
I'll be closing the comments section of my OWOH giveaway as of midnight, EST, TONIGHT--I'll be using a random generator to pick winners tomorrow, February 12th, and I'll post the winners then. Thank you again to all who have stopped by my blog--I appreciate hearing from you and meeting so many wonderful, new people! I have personally sent everyone either an email or commented on their blog--whew, 240 so far--so if you didn't hear from me, then somehow the email didn't go through. Let me know! Thank you, Thank you--and an especially big shoutout to Lisa Oceandreamer, the creator of OWOH, without whom this wonderful event wouldn't have been possible!

Good Morning, Jack the Rabbit!

Here's what was in our front yard this morning when I woke up! I was surprised our little visitor didn't even budge when my husband pulled his car out of the garage and left for work. I was able to snap a couple of pictures of him through one of the front bedroom windows. I'm sorry I haven't posted this week much--my crummy virus-cold-sore throat thing turned into an even crummier sinus infection, and I had to see the doc yesterday--it was my family doctor's associate, and he looked and talked so much like Dr. House in the TV series, House. As awful as I was feeling, he still got me and a very serious young medical student who was working with him to laugh. I actually felt better after a few laughs--and now I'm on an antibiotic, so things should turn around soon. I am having family visit--today my former stepdaughter, Kara, whom I raised for 12 years, and whom I love very much, and her beautiful one year-old daughter, Riley, arrived in Sacramento from Portland, Oregon. Tomorrow, my 6 month-old granddaughter, Lily, will arrive with her parents (my youngest son and his fiance)from Boise, Idaho--I am sooooooooo excited! I will post pictures soon!

Sunday Funnies - Jay Leno Clip

This one is really good! It's fairly short, and it's definitely worth watching! (The longer version was too blurry, but keep in mind that the kid doing the test-messaging is the fastest in the country--HAPPY SUNDAY!)

"Kiss, Kiss"

CLICK ON IMAGE FOR A BETTER LOOK!

This week's theme for Wednesday Stamper (I know, it's Friday), is "Kiss Kiss"--this is a little wall hanging I just finished. I collaged a Bazzill chipboard and then added a little stamping and some embellishments. I am always a bit behind, it seems. It seems to take me a long time when I get going on a piece; I always find that it isn't good enough, so I start over, or I think I'm done and then decide no, it needs something, etc. I'm too OCD--have had that problem all my life! My husband laughs at me because I always check the doors, stove, under the bed, etc., several times before I can climb into bed at night. I keep telling him, "I'm soooo much better than I used to be--3 times a night is certainly better than 20, right?" Am I right, or am I just fooling myself??! Have a great weekend, everyone!!!!

Valentine ATC Swap & "Created by Hand" Challenge

Here's a Valentine ATC I made for Patti's (Treasure Barn) upcoming swap. I also thought I'd add a quote to it, since this week's Created by Hand challenge is to include a love quote in your creation. Sorry I haven't posted much lately--despite being so careful to try and stay healthy, I picked up a sore throat from one of the grandkids and have been a bit under the weather the past few days. I'm hoping to be back to my old self soon . . .

Sunday Funnies - "Good Old Days"

Here's a clip, a little fuzzy, from 1935, featuring Jack Haley, who played the Tin Man in the original Wizard of Oz film. For those of you who remember Andy Devine,(Jingles in the old " TV series "Wild Bill Hickok" amongst many other roles), you can see him in the beginning and at the end of this little video.
