Ten Minute Tag!

The challenge over at Belle-South this week was to make a tag in 10 minutes--no cheating! I gathered a few embellishments, my glue stick and brayer, a Paper Whimsy image, some scrapbook paper, and a tag I'd colored with Distress Ink awhile back--set the timer, and went to work . . . I ended up having 1 minute and 2 seconds to spare! I didn't know I could put a tag together so quickly; it usually takes me FOREVER to get anything completed because I'm so slow! It sure felt good to be creating again, though, after such a long dry spell!

Looks like nine minutes well spent to me!
(I think at times we do better when we don't over think things and just follow our creative spirit!)

This is beautiful! How did you get the distress ink background to look so billowy?

Thank you to everyone who commented! I appreciate you lovely ladies taking the time to say such nice things to me! In answer to your question, Carrie, I just used a background technique from Tim Holtz. I didn't do anything special to get the "cloud" effect--it just happened that way! Here's what I do: I tear off a sheet of freezer paper, secure it to the counter, rub some Distress Ink on the slick surface, and spray water on it with a Mini Mister, until there are lots of little beads of liquid. Then I take a fresh manilla tag and rub it or pat it onto the ink. You can do this over and over until you get the all colors you want. In between colors, I dry the tag with a heat gun. That's it-comes out different every time!

Jan I just received your comments on my blog. THANK YOU for such kind words. I did receive your information on how to make that tag and I can't wait! I bought waxed paper the other day ;o) I hope that you will join the bohemian couch and we can share many more art methods!
Blessings!!!!
