"Maude and Marilyn"

I was going through a little box of my trinkets today and came across the first little art slide, just as I was wondering what I could write a post about. It's very hard for me to spread my art supplies out and create right now because we are still staying with family . . . I soldered these microscope slides a couple of years ago. The first image is of a stage actress from the early 20th century, named Maude Fealey. The second, of course, is Marilyn Monroe--I made this piece for my youngest daughter, who loves Marilyn and has a large collection of photos and memorabilia related to her. My daughter keeps this piece on her counter, and so I grabbed both and took a couple of photos. I loved creating these and had fun soldering them, (although I am self-taught and it was quite difficult), and I would love to take a class someday so I can do more with it. I am a great admirer and fan of Sally Jean, who does beautiful, BEAUTIFUL work with solder! I hope to do more of this in the future . . .

Oh Jann, These are both so beautiful! Your soldering is fantastic! Like you, I'm a great fan of Sally Jean's but I've never tried soldering myself. After seeing these two pieces, I just make have to give it a try. I really like the wire wrapped around them.

Jann, these pieces are just gorgeous! Big fanof Sally Jean myself but my soldering is nothing I want to put out there! LOL I think that Maude Fealy was just beautiful. I'm lovin' your music too! And thanks for the plug on the the new blog! Hope to see your name in the entries for next month. ;-)

Hello Jann, your work is so beautiful. I'm sure your daughter is absolutely delighted to be the proud owner of your Marilyn piece.

I would love to try soldering sometime. I'm sure my results wouldn't turn out as fab as yours though. :)
