EASTER EGGS!

In between making icing and decorating Easter cookies for the grandkids, I boiled a dozen brown eggs today (none of them cracked-yippee!) and had fun coloring them. I just dye them the old-fashioned way, the way my mom did it--put a little vinegar and food coloring in a cup, add very hot water, and then add the egg and leave in it the water for a short time or a long time, your choice. I use tongs to take the egg out, as they leave no imprints, (hubby's idea!) because my fingers usually have food coloring on them! Dyeing brown eggs yields such rich, vibrant colors. Aren't they pretty? Next year, I think I'll do both brown and white, and have even more variety!

I was just saying to my DH tonight I wish I would have colored some eggs. Missed it this year and no excuses because we have chickens! sheesh!

I love these colors! So much richer than the dyed white eggs. (Filing away the idea for next year. :)
