I just finished my entry for the
Mind Wide Open monthly contest, thinking I had until today to submit it--well, silly me, the deadline was last night, and the entries are going to be posted on that blog today! I read the date wrong! Oh, well, I finished this today while fighting seasonal allergies and the crummy migraine I woke up with, so I will post photos of my little project here. I started out with an unfinished oval frame that I bought at Michael's for $1. I sanded it, stained it, inked it, and embellished it! I used scrapbook paper from K&Co to cover the front, stamped flourishes with Colorbox Chalk Ink, and brushed it with Pearl Ex Powder. Then I added antique buttons, Prima "Center Kisses" and a Prima Embellishments flower. The image inside the frame is from
Nancy Dooren, and I attached that to the Mind Wide Open challenge's background and glittered the image and added the suggested word, "Spring" that I clipped from an antique children's book. I also attached Mrs. Grossman's lace stickers around the edges, and put the background and image inside the frame. So, this month, I will look at all the pretty art that people have created, vote on my favorite, and try again next month! PS-the second photo is of my little frame sitting on my grandmother's dresser in my guest room. The dresser was in bad condition many years ago; my sister gave it to me after it sat in her garage for a long time, and my hubby sanded it for me so that I could paint it. I love that dresser and think of my sweet Grandma every time I go into that room!
