TMTA - "Ice Blue" & "Dans Ma Maison"
This week over at TMTA, the theme is a winter one, "Ice Blue" and this image I've been saving from Digital Collage Sheets seemed like it was a good fit. The German scrap surrounding the edges of the ATC is silver, although it is showing some gold tint in my photo.
Over at "Dans Ma Maison il y a . . ." the weekly theme from last Friday is, "In my house, there is a doll."

Sunday Funnies - Flying the Friendly Skies
It's pretty amazing (and often pretty funny) to think of what people went through to get human beings off the ground and in the air. How far we've come! Have a great Sunday!

One World One Heart Event - 2009
Well, I've jumped on the bandwagon, so to speak, and am excited to be able to be a part of this wonderful event, created in 2007 by Lisa Swifka of A Whimsical Bohemian. It is a giveaway event, which is always fun, but the best thing about it is the idea of bringing bloggers together from all over the world, which is truly a gift. How wonderful to be introduced to so many talented and creative people and have the chance to make new friendships, internationally! Isn't that just fabulous???!!! If you'd like to read more about this, please click here. To view all of the participants, please click on the "One World, One Heart" badge on my sidebar!
I have 3 little giveaways, my first ones ever(!) and they are pictured below: the first photos are of the front and back of a little collage-chipboard hanging (4x4), the second is done on 4x4 canvas, and the third is another collage on chipboard, (3x5). I welcome comments from all of you who have active blogs--please leave me a response on this post, and I will pick 3 winners on February 12th. WELCOME, and thank you so much for visiting my blog!

Theme Thursday - Couples
CLICK ON THE PHOTO FOR A BETTER VIEW!
Here's my little entry for Theme Thursday this week, where the challenge is to create an art project featuring couples! You can get a much better look by clicking on the photo for a close-up! I covered the front and back of a Bazzill 3x5 chip board with scrapbook paper and then sanded the edges with fine sandpaper. Next, I applied Colorbox Cat's Eye inks to the edges, and then added a piece of antique sheet music for a background. I applied clear gesso to the front of the piece and added the image. Next, I applied a decorative transfer, paper flowers, and a ribbon. Finally, I embellished the ribbon with a little fringe and a decorative brad from Memory Makers. All done!

Here are a couple of little things I managed to complete this evening, after a long day of hard work . . . the first is for the weekly TMTA challenge. Since the theme is "automobiles" and I've had this image that I got from art-e-zine a few years ago just sitting in a folder, I thought it just might work! The second image is for last Friday's "Dans ma maison" weekly challenge--their theme was "birds in winter"--I've never done a little house collage before, and this was really fun. Hope everyone's having a good week!

"Flourishes"
I finally worked on a small art project today . . . (click on the photo to see more detail) . . . this ATC was inspired by last Tuesday's Created By Hand challenge to use flourishes in a piece of art. I know, it's not Tuesday anymore, but unfortunately, I've been plagued by migraines this week, more than usual, and since the stuff I take for the headaches makes me shaky, I have more difficulty than usual when I try to create little pieces of art--and I use the term "art" loosely, as I don't really feel I am good enough to call myself an artist--at least, not yet. At any rate, I used an image I got from The Vintage Stamper, (Nancy Dooren), the wings are from Paper Whimsy, and, after using some flourish stamps and embellishments, I used glittery embossing powder on the larger flourish and glittered the wings, (the glitter doesn't show up very well in the photo), with crystal Stickles. Then I edged the ATC with a copper Cat's Eye ink pad from Colorbox. I'm hoping to try some more challenges soon!

Sunday Funnies
As is often the case with old clips on YouTube, this one is a little fuzzy, but very sweet, with Shirley Temple and Gary Cooper from 1934's Now and Forever:

I have received several nice compliments on my "Bonne Annee" blog background--it is lovely, isn't it? I am using it courtesy of Karen, over at The Background Fairy. She is the one who created it; she has many beautiful backgrounds on her site, and she has generously offered to let anyone and everyone use them for free! Also, if you haven't already visited her blog, The Graphics Fairy, please do. It's full of gorgeous free images, (one of which is pictured above), to use in your artwork! She only asks that you link back to her site if you use any of them, and that you please only use 4 images per art project. She also has another blogsite, called "Fleurish" where she posts photos of her beautiful wares at her booth located inside the Old Lucketts Store near Leesburg, Virginia. How I wish I could shop there, but alas, I am over on the other side of the country! For now, I just have to be content with visits via the Internet . . . sigh! Karen's blogs are full of wonderful "eye candy" and I've had so much fun visiting her over this past year!

Sunday Funnies - RIP George Carlin
Since the Academy Awards Show omitted George Carlin (among others) from it's remembrance video last Sunday, I thought I'd offer a little video I found on YouTube. This is a nutshell version of his rise to fame, a few highlights of his various acts, and a wonderful comment by him at the end. George was often controversial, but he never was afraid to be himself or to say what he believed in. I remember watching him many times on the Johnny Carson Show when I was a kid. Rest in Peace, George; I hope you're making lots of people laugh in heaven.
